iSeeNcode is a versatile observation application designed to facilitate data collection across various contexts. Its core strength lies in allowing users to create customized coding schemas, enabling efficient categorization and recording of observed behaviors or phenomena.

The development of iSeeNcode was supported by a federally funded initiative led by the University of Delaware, under a grant awarded by the Institute of Education Sciences (2012-2015). Originally tailored for classroom observations during research on literacy and writing achievement in first graders, the application has since evolved into a flexible tool suitable for diverse observational studies. It allows researchers to import and export schemas via XML files, which can be synchronized across multiple devices, including iPads and iPhones.

The interface incorporates counters, color-coded tags for tracking recurring themes, and a timer to manage observation duration. An open text area accommodates narrative notes or observations that do not fit within predefined categories. Data collected can be exported as spreadsheets for subsequent analysis, with options to view results on-screen or share via cloud storage or email. The app also supports modifying existing schemas, adjusting timers, counters, and coding trees to suit specific research needs.

The application is available at no cost for initial exploration. For ongoing data collection, users may purchase observation packs in quantities of 10, 25, 50, 100, 500, or 1000 entries, with discounts applied for larger packs. Purchased observations are stored locally on the device indefinitely until deleted. iSeeNcode imposes no restrictions on the number of schemas, observation sessions, or recorded data items stored on the device.
